Its been too long since the last album (not really but its been hard to be patient!) The most distinctive difference from their self-titled debut is the abundance of originals on this record. Sometimes doing lyrics and music, other times using existing hymn/poem lyrics (even John Donne), Vito and friends have created a wonderful album arc of original work. The flow of the entire record almost feels like a liturgical service, beginning with a Confession & Forgiveness (I'm Not Fine) and wrapping up the album with a Benediction (God Be With You). The recording and production quality have gone up a little bit on this record, though I must admit, the rawness of the first record was refreshing and has its appeal. The country-western touch added by the lap steel isn't my cup of tea, and may be a little over used, but thats purely a personal style preference. Overall, a fun and insightful album that works well AS AN ALBUM (don't put on shuffle!) and won't disappoint. Enjoy the music!
